In the world of spiritual healing and soul work, few experiences are as profound and revealing as past life regression. While it may sound mystical or even controversial to some, for many who have explored it, including myself, past life regression offers deep emotional clarity, karmic understanding, and a powerful opportunity for healing. But why are our past lives important? And how do they impact the lives we are living now?
In this post, we’ll explore the purpose of past life regression, how unresolved past experiences can show up in this lifetime, and how uncovering these memories can help us grow, heal, and make empowered choices. I’ll also share some of my personal past life regression experiences that changed the course of my life forever.
What Is Past Life Regression?
Past life regression (PLR) is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis or deep meditation to access memories of past incarnations. The idea is that our soul doesn’t just live once, but takes on multiple lifetimes to evolve, learn lessons, and grow spiritually. During a PLR session, you may experience vivid imagery, strong emotions, or even full scenes from other lifetimes. These memories are not just imaginative, many people find the physical, emotional, and psychological reactions to be intensely real and deeply resonant.
Why Are Past Lives Important?
The soul carries memories and energetic imprints from lifetime to lifetime. Just as childhood trauma can impact adult behavior, unresolved experiences from past lives can affect your relationships, health, fears, personality traits, and life choices in this incarnation.
Understanding these patterns is key to healing and transformation.
1. Healing Emotional Wounds
Trauma or emotional pain that we didn’t resolve in a previous lifetime may repeat itself until we learn the lesson. These patterns can show up as unhealthy relationships, irrational fears, or chronic emotional struggles.
2. Breaking Karmic Cycles
Many of our closest relationships today are connected to soul contracts or unresolved karma from other lives. Past life regression can help us understand why we’re drawn to certain people or situations, and how to break cycles that no longer serve us.
3. Understanding Life Purpose
Some people uncover past lives where they had specific roles, skills, or missions that explain their current talents or callings. Tapping into this wisdom can bring a sense of validation and direction.
4. Empowering the Present
By realizing that your soul has experienced different times, places, and identities, you can gain a greater sense of your inner power, resilience, and wisdom. You’re more than just your present-day identity.
My Personal Journey with Past Life Regression
I’ve experienced two professional past life regressions using different techniques, as well as one surprisingly powerful YouTube meditation. Each of these sessions brought forward memories that helped me understand and heal deeply embedded wounds in my present life.
A Repeated Pattern with My Son’s Father
One of the most impactful past life memories I uncovered was connected to the father of my son. In a regression, I saw myself in the 1920s. I was in a domestic situation with a man, my current son’s father in a previous form. In that life, he was abusive, and I vividly saw him choke me and push me against a refrigerator. It was terrifying and emotionally intense.
Incredibly, and tragically, the exact same thing happened in this lifetime. That same act of violence repeated itself, nearly a century later. But here’s the difference: in that past life, I didn’t leave. Divorce was frowned upon at the time, and I stayed in that relationship out of fear, shame, and social pressure. I eventually died sad, alone, and full of regret for not choosing myself.
In this lifetime, although I had a child with this man, I made a different choice. I chose to leave. I chose my safety, my self-worth, and most importantly, I chose my son’s future. In many ways, my son saved my life, not just physically, but spiritually. Breaking that karmic pattern wasn’t easy, but it was essential for my evolution. If
Healing the Mother Wound—Across Lifetimes
Another past life experience showed me how my relationship with my mother has also been a recurring theme across lifetimes. In one regression, I saw myself as a Pleiadian being, yes, not even of this Earth. Even in that form, the dynamic was the same: a controlling maternal figure trying to dictate my life path, especially in terms of career choices and expression.
That memory shook me because the conversations I had with my mother in this lifetime were nearly identical. When I was younger, I lived to appease her. I followed paths I didn’t truly want, silenced my intuition, and wore the masks she felt comfortable with. But as I grew older, and as my spiritual work deepened, I began making choices that aligned with my soul, not her expectations.
I still sometimes feel the weight of guilt or her disapproval, but I no longer let it control me. Realizing that this issue spanned across lifetimes gave me the strength to detach and stand firm in my truth.
How Past Life Regression Helped Me Heal
These experiences weren’t just interesting stories, they were breakthroughs. Each past life memory brought me emotional release, clarity, and a deep sense of purpose.
Here’s how past life regression helped me in practical terms:
- I broke free from toxic relationships by understanding they were karmic loops I was meant to complete, not repeat.
- I stopped feeling guilty for choosing my path and realized I was carrying the emotional baggage of lifetimes where I suppressed myself.
- I reclaimed my power by understanding that I had lived through pain, made mistakes, and died with regret, but I had the power to rewrite that ending in this life.
- I deepened my compassion for others by recognizing that we’re all carrying unseen stories from lifetimes before this one.
How to Explore Past Life Regression
If you’re curious about your own past lives, there are a few ways to get started:
1. Professional Regression Sessions
Look for a certified past life regression therapist. There are different techniques, some use hypnosis, others use guided meditation. A good practitioner will help you feel safe and supported during the process.
2. Guided Meditations
There are many high-quality past life regression meditations available on YouTube. Surprisingly, one of the most powerful regressions I had came from a video meditation. It’s all about intention, openness, and trust in the process.
3. Dreamwork and Journaling
Sometimes past life memories surface in dreams, spontaneous visions, or strong emotional reactions to historical events or places. Keep a journal and write down anything that feels familiar or emotionally charged. Want to learn about benefits of journaling? CLICK HERE!
4. Work with Intuitives
Some mediums or intuitives can help identify past life patterns through readings or energy work. Just make sure you’re working with someone ethical and grounded.
Final Thoughts: Your Soul is a Tapestry of Lifetimes
Our current life is not a standalone story, it’s a chapter in a much longer book. Every unresolved emotion, unlearned lesson, or buried trauma can ripple into this lifetime if not acknowledged and healed. But that’s also the beauty of past life regression: it allows us to access our soul’s wisdom, gain perspective, and consciously choose a different path.
My past life experiences gave me strength when I needed it most. They explained the unexplainable. They brought healing to wounds I didn’t even know I was carrying. And they reminded me that I am not a victim of my past, I am the author of my soul’s evolution. If you feel drawn to this work, honor that call. The answers you seek may be older than you think.
